What happens if my insurance denies the prior authorization for the medication?

If you choose a name-brand GLP-1 Medication as your preference, we will proactively call your insurance company to understand your coverage. This is prior to your provider writing a prescription, and we do this to know what is or isn't covered. Typically we see that about 25-35% of patients have some type of coverage. Our insurance specialists work Monday-Friday, which mirrors the hours/days of most insurance companies.

If your prior authorization is denied, we will recommend a new treatment plan for you. In most cases, this would either be an oral medication such as metformin or bupripion and naltrexone. If you want the same effectiveness as a GLP-1 medication such as Wegovy or Mounjaro, we would recommend compounded semaglutide. They're much more affordable than paying for a name-brand medication out of pocket and just as effective.

Regardless of the decision, our team will communicate the results with you via chat and/or phone.
